As Valentine’s Day approaches I am reminded of the essential need for consistency in our relationships. It is easy for me to express love, demonstrate kindness, and think of my spouse on holidays like Valentine’s Day. But if these things are too frequently absent in my marriage throughout the rest of the year then it is likely that my gestures on Valentine’s day will seem hollow to my beautiful wife. Fortunately I give flowers, gifts, express loving words and perform acts of kindness throughout the year, but I will be the first to concede that I could yet be a more consistent Valentine.
