A year from now

I read a quote many years ago that said a year from now you’ll wish you had started today.
There’s also a proverb I read which I’m sure I’ll miss quote slightly that says that the best time to plant a shade tree was ten years ago, the second best time is today.
We seem to make such a big deal out of New Year’s resolutions and goals, at least I have historically. But I’m coming to learn that any day is a good day to take the first step toward a goal or personal improvement.
I can’t go back. And I can’t predict the future. All I can do is choose to take action today.
And small actions, done consistently over time, compound to produce remarkable results. A journey of a thousand miles starts with taking the first step.
So on January first, the goal isn’t to climb the entire mountain, it’s to take the first step forward.
Happy New Year.
