With only four sleeps until Christmas, most of the presents are wrapped, stocking stuffers gathered and pantry’s filled. But amid all the excitement have we paused to consider what Jesus wants for Christmas, it is His birthday after all that we are meant to be celebrating.
I don’t know exactly what Jesus would want for Christmas, but I think Mariah Carey might have been on to something when she penned the opening lyrics of her Christmas hit, all I want for Christmas.
I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need.
I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree.
I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know.
Make my wish come true, all I want for Christmas is you.
As I heard these words being sung this year, I thought that this is perhaps what Jesus might also say to each of us this Christmas.
I don’t believe he cares about many of the material things, what really he wants is me! He wants my faith, my heart and my mind. This is the gift he wants more than I can probably comprehend.
So will we make his wish come true, by presenting and giving ourselves to him, not just this Christmas but always?
