Over the past year, one of the most frequent questions people have asked me is what I planned to do for work. I’ve not had a job now for over 18 months… don’t worry, we’re doing just fine.
But my answer has been almost perfectly consistent, I don’t know. In fact I’m still figuring it out but I’m working on some things that I’m excited about.
But here’s what I do know. I want autonomy, flexibility and income.
Autonomy to do what I want. Flexibility to do it when I want. And an income that allows me to maximize them both.
Not a great many jobs or careers offer these three. Often you have to take your pick of one or maybe two if you’re lucky.
Most of us choose the income but sacrifice the autonomy and flexibility when we choose to work for someone else or a corporation.
So what am I doing for work? Right now I’m working on something that provides me with more autonomy, flexibility, and an income that allows me to maximize them both.
Now I’m no fool, obtaining these three things still requires hard work, but I’ve spent time working hard for others and had very little of the three things I desire.
Do you feel like you have autonomy, flexibility and an income to maximize them both?
