I am not positive about it.

Nearly two-thirds of us are now overweight or obese. A quick walk around your local Walmart will confirm the data. As someone who has spent much of his life in these two categories I can attest that it is not the best way to live.
I do not agree with the body positivity movement. I am not suggesting we all must look a certain way or be a specific size. Each body is unique and we are unwise to compare ourselves and use others as our measuring stick. But the body positivity movement encourages people to love their bodies no matter their condition.
We should not support others, including ourselves, in being overweight, obese or out of shape. There is little to be positive about these three things.
Of course we love and never shame, ourselves or others. But we do no one any favors by saying that no matter what our body is like it is beautiful. I feel like I can speak candidly for and about myself.
I disliked it then, and I disagree with it now when people try to tell me that I am not big. I think to myself, “Who or what are you comparing me to?” Sure if you compare me to the 300-pound guy riding the mobility scooter at the store I look like I’m doing okay.
I am not positive about the way my body looks and feels right now. What I am positive about is my progress toward making my body healthier, stronger and the way God intended it to be.
Obesity is harmful. it is lethal. It is killing too many of us too quickly. We should not be accepting it, condoning it or even worse, praising it. It is not good. It is not good for the individual, the economy or the planet.
We should always love ourselves, but sometimes self love requires saying and accepting hard truths and working hard to change our lives.
