Initially I thought it sounded great to call myself The Bold Brit. It sounded catchy and matched some aspects of who I am. I am bold and I am British. Although boldness isn’t a bad attribute to have, and being British is brilliant, I am more than just these two markers.
Eight days ago I sat in the car at my grandparents grave, it’s one of my go to thinking spots. As I sat there looking at their names and those of the people buried close to them, this question came into my mind, “what name will be on your headstone”
Matthew Royston Webb of course!
And that’s when I realized that trying to brand myself as The Bold Brit wasn’t the right approach. I am Bold and British but above all I am Matthew Royston.
So I’ve decided to retire The Bold Brit domain and branding and instead adopt Matthew Royston. What I share and what you read are my thoughts, my ideas and my experiences.
However hard I try, I cannot be someone else. I can improve, grow and develop but I can never escape myself. Wherever I go, there I am. So the only option is to wholeheartedly embrace and love myself.
