The Pharisees accused and condemned Jesus because he didn’t meet their preconceived ideas about who they thought He ought to be. Sometimes I believe if we aren’t careful we can conjure up in our minds a God who does not and cannot exist. One of life’s great challenges is resisting the temptation to fashion God in our own image and ideas. I suspect and seem to instinctively know for certain that the God I think I know is not done revealing himself and who he is to me, which means I must not become so fixated or concrete in my ideas or ‘knowledge’ about who He is.
