I think one element of having a happy marriage is striking some sort of balance between novelty and normality. We all need stability and consistency in our relationships as well as in our lives because perpetual instability and inconsistency often lead to undesirable outcomes. But too much stability can be stifling. As we strive for normality we must also inject novelty into our relationships to keep them fun, vibrant and growing. Novelty can be as simple as trying, exploring, or discovering something new together.
