We’ve all got problems. Some exist in our bodies, others in our relationships and a host of them in our minds, spirits, and emotions. It’s one of the universal truths that we all have problems in varying degrees of severity or complexity.
Lots of the things that seem problematic to us are often only the symptoms of the real problem. Depression, anxiety, stress, obesity, disease, illness, and so forth are often symptoms of a much more complex and complicated problem.
Many of us try to mask our symptoms and avoid our problems with the drugs we enjoy best. For some it’s the legal or illegal use of prescription drugs, others use substances like opioids, alcohol, food and even pornography to try and escape, numb, avoid.
Symptoms, however uncomfortable and vexing rarely remedy themselves on their own without great effort to identify and address the real problem.
Symptoms should be treated, but underneath the symptom lies the real problem. Below the symptom we often find trauma, mental, emotional and spiritual wounds, and incorrect belief systems.
Until these are identified and worked through, we will likely find ourselves in the same life loops that keep us stuck, trapped or unfulfilled.
I am a firm believer that every problem has a solution if we are willing to pay the price to obtain it.
