Murdering your family then taking your own life is a serious mistake. This tragedy occurred recently in Southern Utah.
I don’t know many of the details but I am saddened by the demeaning and degrading comments that have been leveled at this child of God, our brother who made this absolutely tragic decision.
I wish such things would not happen. But let us withhold our self-righteous indignation. My sins may not be as grievous as his, but without Jesus we’re both going to hell.
I don’t believe that this brother of ours will go to hell. Nor would I wish that upon him or anyone else. I don’t know all the details but I hope that he obtains mercy.
A soul must be in a very dark and hopeless place to murder and commit suicide. So let us not condone but let us not condemn either.
Remember that only he (Jesus) who is without sin should cast the stone, and for the most part, I don’t believe our Savior is in the business of throwing stones, so neither should we.
I acknowledge that I am an outsider here and I have not experienced such a tragedy. There will be some with hurting hearts and heavy souls. I don’t want to discredit the real pain that this brothers choices have caused.
But it’s moments like these when being a Christian goes from some abstract idea to raw reality. To kneel, to love, to forgive in the face of such events is never easy.
But this is the pathway of discipleship. This is the road to peace, healing and eternal life.
