Would I build a boat?

As with most things, the Bible is a little sparse on all the details surrounding Noah and his being asked to build a boat.
But we have enough to learn some valuable lessons. One is that faith can look a little nutty from an outside perspective.
Building a massive boat in a desert place where the idea of mass flooding sounds ridiculous. And I’m sure plenty of people pointed this out to Noah and probably mocked him for building.
Why does God ask us to do things that initially make no sense to us? That cause others to mock and ridicule us? One answer to that question is that he is testing our faith. Are we willing to act before we see all the reasons?
Had Noah waited until the rain had started it would have been too late. The best time to plant and grow our seed of faith is long before we need it to shade us from the scorching sun.
The Bible is pretty clear on how serious and precarious the end of the world will be and God has sent prophets throughout the ages to tell us how to prepare.
The question I ask myself is, am I willing to build a boat? Especially when it makes me look odd or become unpopular? Do I believe the words of scripture and modern prophets enough to take the actions necessary to stay standing until the end?
I’ve had experiences where I’ve definitely been scorched because it turned out the shade tree of my faith wasn’t mature enough to protect me.
JFK said that the best time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining. Perhaps the sun isn’t shining in our lives right now, so repairing will be harder, but you can still fix a leaky roof even in the rain!
