I can see what you mean by how the church doctrine can be taught in a "domino" fashion, set up to fall either way. I can especially see this when reflecting on my mission and how I taught investigators. Over the past few years, I've been inspired to put a lot of emphasis into relating all gospel teachings back to Christ, and that has been instrumental in strengthening my faith and foundation. So, if I had a thought to leave the church, I'd like to think my thoughts would lead me back to Christ and his teachings, and have the faith to overcome the destructive thought.
I'm glad my thought made sense! Sometimes I wonder. I have had similar thoughts about centering and focusing on Jesus Christ, it's been very helpful for me, especially these past few years because I have definitely had a few tested 'Dominos'. A thought I heard once said something life, "we should teach our children in such a way that even if they walk away from the church, they never walk away from entirely from Jesus Christ."
